Nancy K Gordonsville , VA February 25, 2017 Appliance: Maytag 30`` Electric Freestanding Self Clean Range Non-Convect MGT8775XS01 Maytag Range Mgt8775xs01 / : Oven would not heat. How to replace Control Board. We had a repairman come and diagnose the problem. I had figured out it was "probably" the igniter, the little heating element that ignites the propane inside the oven once it gets hot enough. The problem was indeed the igniter, and it was also the Control Board, since the broiler wouldn't come on either. So, we decided we would try the fix ourselves after watching the repair videos. We ordered both the igniter and the control board from Appliance Parts Pros, and they arrived in just a few days. This morning, my husband and I watched the videos one more time, and we replaced both parts in about 90 minutes (which included pulling the range away from the wall, cleaning the floor underneath it, and cleaning the years' worth of gunk that had disappeared down the sides between the range and the cabinets). I took cell phone photos as we went along so we could be positive to get the wires and parts hooked back up exactly correctly on the new parts. We were also careful to lay the screws, parts, and nuts out in order so they'd be easy to put back, in reverse. Everything now works just fine! And the next best part is that we saved over $300 by ordering the parts and doing the repair ourselves. We are 70-year-old grandparents, by the way -- not appliance repair techs!
