John A Inverness , FL May 08, 2016 Appliance: Estate Electric Dryer TEDS680BQ1 Estate Dryer Teds680bq1: The push start button was always "on". How to replace Switch Push - Start. Naturally unplug the dryer from the power supply. Next pull the knob off the start switch. It comes off easily. From here on all is done from the back side of the dryer. The sheet metal panel located on the back of the control head is removed using a nut driver to take out the 6 screws. The switch is now visible. There is a plastic locator tab on the switch, lift it up slightly and rotate the switch 90 degrees and it's free of the cabinet. If there is any question, look at the new part and you will understand how it locks in place. Now just switch over the electrical connections. The 2 spade connectors were tight on this original switch, so a pair of pliers were used to get a better grip for pulling them free. The new switch is then inserted and twisted until the locator tab pops in place. Replace the sheet metal panel followed by the knob, and the job is done. 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
