When I looked on the Appliance Parts Pro website it said the usual fix for a refrig that is not cooling is to replace the defrost thermostat in the freezer. I didn't see how that would keep the refrig from cooling but I figured I would try it.
Got the part yesterday ( two days shipping which was great!). I took the panel off the back of the freezer and the coils were all covered in solid ice! it took me an hour with a heat gun to melt the ice.
I changed the defrost thermostat and now the refrig is cool like it should be.
Thanks for the advice and the cheap part ( $9 ).
