I opened the back panel in the freezer and saw that the fan was not turning, I bought a voltage tester @ Home Depot for $30 (I consider that my reward for fixing the freezer myself) and it showed that there was no continuity in the fan. I tested it by disconnecting its pigtail connection and inserting the leads from the tester into the appropriate sockets (not the green that is the grounding wire. At this point I knew that it was the fan, so I proceeded to take apart the rest of the freezer panel to be able to actually remove the fan, and just to make sure I cut the wires leading to the fan and retested the fan again. I ordered the fan, which arrived within 2 days, and detached the fan from its bracket, and pulled off the fan blade and the rubber holder, reinstalled it in the new fan motor, attached all the parts and panels, and voila! The fridge was as good as new.
