GE repairman came by and charged $99.95 to "diagnose" the problem. He left me an itemized description with the "possible" fix.....no guarantees. I looked over the $500+ repair ($250 for labor , $235 for parts and tax) and simply went online and ordered the ONE REQUIRED PART for $120! I then unscrewed the 5 screws needed to remove and then replace the part. This repair, which I was to be charged $250 labor for, took me all of 6 minutes. Thank god I believe in my own abilities, education and COMMOM SENSE. P.S.: I am not nor have ever been an appliance repair person.
