First turned off the breaker. I took the cooktop out of the counter, put two planks under it to hold it up, took off the glass, raised the main part up from the metal box and put 1 2x4 under the control end to hold it up. took out 2 screws, pulled out the old control, changed out the wires one at a time, put it back in with the $8 screws, took out the 2x4,dropped in the box, put the glass back on. turned on the breaker and tested it. then i put it back in the counter after removing the planks that held it up. i paid a pro $275 to do this before . i watched him and it looked pretty simple which it was.
