Gail C Las Vegas , NV November 10, 2019 Appliance: Model WM2688HNM (ANBEEUS) Sounded like an airplane when in spin cycle This was the 2nd time my husband and I had to replace the bearings in just over a year. This time we decided to replace the spider because of the corrosion on the shaft which goes through the water seal. I believe we had the corrosion on the last repair but wasn't informed enough to realize to check for this. Again the job took us days, it's a straight forward job but there are times you have problems, such as pounding the shaft out of the bearings. We had to soak overnight and still had to pound a long time to get the tub to release. We had ordered the bearings but when we saw the shaft on the spider decided it needed to be replaced so ordered that along with the gasket that goes between the 2 halves of the plastic outer tub since we've had this apart now 2 times and it's insurance to replace this to avoid any leaks. The next problem was trying to get the 6 bolts out of the spider from the tub. They would NOT come out, they just spun and you could hear/feel them striping the plastic threads inside the tub. We canceled the spider order and ordered the new inner tub. I placed the order on a Tuesday and paid the extra $3 for faster delivery and got it a day BEFORE it was expected, thank you Appliance Parts Pro. Putting it together took us 5 hours because getting some of the hoses back on and the door gasket and springs were frustrating. All in all, it took us 3 hours to take apart, label all the screws & bolts and take photos. Overnight to soak the bearings, an hour of pounding to get the tub loose and then the next day put it together. My recommendations are to have the tools they recommend including the 'bent' needle nose pliers to put the door gasket springs on (we don't have one) and DO NOT remove the door gasket from the plastic tub, it's not necessary. Use some liquid soap to ease putting the hoses and bearings in and put anything on the tub before you put it back in the washer. Also to mention the baffles on the new tub were different from the baffles on my 2007 LG Steam washer so we had to call to make sure we ordered the right part. This is not a job I would take lightly but if you have the time, tools and patience (and a little help) it's a DIY job. I would also check out various videos from Appliance Parts Pros including the ones to replace the bearings, spider and inside the tub as they have some differences that are helpful. Also, read a lot of the stories because they can also help you. The bottom line is my washer is now quiet and I hope that this time it will be a long time before it happens again. 12 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours
