James T Syracuse , NY May 15, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Washer WJRR4170G2WW Ge Washer Wjrr4170g2ww: Timer went bad, worn parts. How to replace Control Knob Assembly. Replaced the timer, ring and knob, however while removing the old timer, I broke off one of the retaining clips that hold the timer tight to the front panel. Had to rig up an alternative, put a screw thru the tab on the new timer and into the front panel. A little bit of the screw came thru the other side, but out of the way enough. Looks like crap BUT, its fixed and clothes get clean so victory! Looked at a price for a new front panel and it's way too expensive for a piece of plastic. With a new panel and timer, I'm better off buying a new machine. That said, should have been a 10 minute, very easy project, my own fault it took longer. 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
