The timer motor wouldn't advance in Auto or Air dry, Timed dry was Ok. A little scorch mark above the old ring resistor was the telltale that something was wrong with that. Ohmeter confirmed an open resistor; continunity check, visual inspection and a thorough test of the timer excluded its contacts and all the other terms and connections. The new resistor was within spec as per the schematic; the new in-line resistor is more robust and better made than the factory model.
