Diagnosing was simple. Make sure unit is still plugged in and turn the dial to any setting. Do not start the dryer but simply listen for the timer ticking. No tick. Had power at both leads to dryer connection.
Unplugged dryer and removed the panel where the controls are, 4 screws.
Photographed the connections to the timer in case something went wrong
Removed connectors one at a time and connected them to the corresponding connector on the new part.
Removed the front dial and the screws behind it and installed new timer.
Reassembled and checked operations.
