The four damping straps were stretched beyond their limits- the tub hit the lid switch! I replaced the straps and switch and now it's all good. If you have a small screw gun (power screwdriver type), remove the screws that hold the straps to the tub, then move the tub out of the way to access the screws that hold the straps to the cabinet. A little screw gun makes this job go much easier. Attach the new straps to the cabinet (do the rear ones first) and then to the tub.
