Used needle nose pliers to remove the clip on the knob, took off the knob, took off the dial and used pliers to remove the ring from the dial which stayed on the timer because it was broken. Then I lined up the tab on the dial to the notch on the timer, pushed it on and then put the knob on the stem of the timer.
