Reg R Saratoga , CA August 09, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Washer WWA8890RBLWW Ge Washer Wwa8890rblww: Washing machine pump started leaking. How to replace Water Pump. Purchased new pump and replaced failed one. Followed suggestions from other customer--removed 4 hoses, then 3 screws, then flex connection to pump at pump only [leaving motor side attached]. Installation went well--although new pump was thicker at one screw so the old screw has only 2 thread engagement. Original hoses are 15 years old, stiffened with age. One leaked initially after installing it on the new pump, and I had to work on the hose/pump fitting attachment, and move the clamp further away from the pump. Because I had put the washing machine on its side for ease of access (I have a bad back), I was confused when the motor was ~ 1" out of alignment with the pump. I realized it had slumped with gravity, making the coupling flex connection not want to go back on. So I righted the washing machine, and was pleased that the motor was now aligned. I then had to get the flex coupling fully under its retainer with the washing machine right side up. Overall it took about 35 minutes including removing the back cover . It works. 15 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
