I purchased and installed the icemaker motor module but water was not coming into the icemaker. Disconnected the water fill tubing at the connector union and let the motor module cycle through the water fill cycle. The solenoid valve opened and water flowed so I knew the fill tube must be plugged. I then found an ice plug in the outlet of the tubing. Chipped the ice out carefully and used a hair dryer to thaw the ice. Now have normal icemaker function. I think the motor module did fail which lead to an ice plug forming in the water tubing. Troubleshooting was the most challenging part of the repair.
Lesson - check water flow before assuming the solenoid has failed.
