Dorothy B Bronx , NY March 14, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer GSW9800PW2 Whirlpool Washer Gsw9800pw2: Water level switch plastic rod broke level was set to high and i couldn't adjust the water level to smaller loads. How to replace Water Level Switch Pressure Switch. I unplugged the machine from the electric socket and removed the drain hose. I then shut the water valves to the unit. I removed the two screws from the rear sides of the control panel. I gently lifted the control panel and tilted it forward resting it on the lid of the machine to expose the control knobs. I removed the rubber tube and the plastic electric clip plug from the water level switch. This allowed me to twist the switch and lift it away from the panel. Time for the replacement to begin... I took the new switch, connected the plastic electric plug, connected the rubber tube. Up righted the control panel and screwed the panel back in place. Inserted the control knob and now the true test. Turned the water valves on, return hose in place, plugged the machine into the electric socket and I set the control to extra small......turned the machine on and waited. Walla.....the water level filled to its lowest level and it began to agitate. I then tried it at all levels and it worked. (The only piece I didn't use was the spring clip...still not sure how this part plays into the repair). It's been bothering me for a while that I could only use the machine at large load level so I decided to try and repair it myself. When I was a little girl I always used to be my Dad's helper so I guess he rubbed off on me. I was so happy and proud of myself.....I hope he is smiling from heaven 32 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes
