David W Smyrna , TN June 30, 2026 Appliance: Fisher & Paykel Gas Cooktop GC36WAC-88253 Two spark igniters (reignition electrodes) tips were broken off probably from years of cleaning the tips on two of five igniters were broken off from our fisher paykel cooktop It was an easy DIY repair to pull out the broken igniters and install the new ones with the exception of how hard it was to secure the new middle burner igniter. It uses a very hard to install spring to secure the igniter...I ended up slightly modifying the spring. The other burners use simple clips to hold the ceramic bases in place. I also "fixed" one of the burners. For a number of years, I used a lighter and even after replacing the igniter, the strong sparks would not ignite the burner. For some reason, the Bosch design had about 1/8 of an inch too much distance from the burner base to the spark. I used a small piece of aluminum foil to redirect gas to the spark....now, it is the fastest burner to come on! Read More...
