Guy O Reynoldsburg , OH April 18, 2021 Appliance: Frigidaire Refrigerator FPBS2777RF0 Spring attachment holding ice/water dispenser arm up broke. I thought the spring that holds up the ice/water dispenser actuator broke, but it turned out to be the plastic arm that the spring attaches to. The result was the same, the arm fell down and activated the water itself just due to gravity. You can't buy the spring by itself, nor the clear plastic ice shoot that the spring was attached to. You have to buy a rather expensive sub-assembly to fix this, but it was easily fixable. Power off the fridge, two screws will release the front ice/water control plate. Unplug a few wires and it detaches fully. Two more screws release the entire ice/water activation assembly. Two screws and detaching the water dispensing line, which is very stiff can take a bit of work. But once detached, a few more minutes is all it takes to swap in the original, reattach the water dispensing line, re-attach the sub-assembly to the door with its two screws, hook up the wires again, and reattach the control plate with its two screws. Took more time to move the fridge out to unplug it than it did to fix the problem. It's kind of annoying that you have to replace a $100+ assembly to repair a 30c spring and a few millimeters of broken plastic, that being said, any hack I had done with superglue and spare bits would likely have already re-broken, and any fancy hack with 3d printer parts would have taken weeks to get right. This was ordered, delivered, and installed in just a few days with minimal fuss, and I'm fairly sure it will last better than any super-glued set of toothpicks would have :) And of course, none of this is AppliancePartsPros.com concern, they didn't design the fridge to require a big subassembly to be swapped when a 30c part breaks. AppliancePartsPros.com did their part of the thing perfectly. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
