Carl B Glendale , AZ October 12, 2014 E52 error code Hi, it's me again. So I learned a valuable appliance repair lesson when trying to fix this washing machine: don't fix something until you figure out why it broke in the first place! The first speed control board died (fixed with my last story on year) and I assumed it was just a cheap part of something, but I was in fact proved wrong when, to my dismay, the new board died a week or so later. Being the self-appointed washing machine expert I became after the last repair, I got right into the back of it the moment it stopped working, hoping I just didn't securely attach something and could fix easily. Whereas last time I received error code 59, this time it was 52, but still pointed to the speed control board. In doing so, I noticed some water around the bottom of the machine. I then took the top off, and there noticed that the hose connecting the soap dispenser area to the drum had become detached! Water had been dripping down onto the speed control board and, I presume, that killed them both. I checked both bad boards and they had part of the circuit board corroded in the exact same place. So after a quick delivery of speed control board #2 and a single trip to the laundromat to wash the half done laundry from the aborted load, I pulled the top and back off, securely tightened the hose back up and installed the new board. So it is fixed... For now. Hopefully there won't be a part 3 to this story, but I must say I feel better knowing there was a legitimate reason for the first failure and I believe I have identified and corrected the cause of the damages. $260 well spent (and still probably cheaper than paying someone to come fix it). Lee W Washington , DC June 05, 2023 Appliance: Frigidaire Washer FAFW3801LW3 E23 error code. Washer wouldn’t start. Replaced Drain Pump, drain hose & filter. Now it works great! Previously I replaced the door catch sensor because some people said this was a common issue for not starting but that didn’t help, then I realized I could check for error codes. The hardest part of the project was getting the hose clips on and off. There was a lot of water in the hoses luckily I had two old towels ready. Carl B Glendale , AZ September 29, 2014 E 59 error code As a new home owner, this was my first attempt at appliance repair, and it was a success! Washer stopped spinning and gave error code 59, "no signal to tach for 3 sec". Having no experience in appliance repair, I first googled and saw sometimes the drain can stop it from spinning, so I cleared out the trap. Didn't fix it, but definitely needed done! Finally solved the mystery of where the missing corner of my shorts went. Next up I found the service manual online (which I subsequently found inside the washer when I removed the top) and performed 'Test 10' which signified that the speed control board needed replaced. I was nervous that wouldn't fix it since I read a story online of someone with a similar issue where it ended up being the main control board which was bad, but figured I should try the speed control board first, then try the main control if that didn't fix it. Luckily for me, I didn't have to go down that route as installing the new speed control board did the trick! Boy was I relieved that I didn't have to go to a laundromat this weekend! As I mentioned, I have 0 experience in this and the process was relatively simple. The machine really isn't too complex, the only difficult part was maneuvering everything in tight spaces. A little frustrating at times, but well worth a working washer and a grand sense of accomplishment!
