Walter H Woodland Hills , CA August 19, 2014 O'keefe and merritt oven igniter glowed orange but burner did not light As recommended in your repair video the likely cause was increased resistance in the igniter. Although I could not match the part by oven model number because of its age, I queried your site for oven igniters and matched the part by photo and description. The part that arrived was an exact match. After installation, the oven worked perfect both on auto and manual settings. Saundra M Little Rock , AR June 04, 2014 The oven stopped heating My oven is 28 years old. Every retail store told me I would not be able to find the part and if I did; it would be so expensive to purchase and a technician would charge too much to fix it. I did my research online, searched for part for the manufacturer (Montgomery Ward). Was not successful in finding the model number, so I connected with the "chat rep' online who immediately cross referenced the model number, and found the part for only $38. (there was a convenient video showing how to install the igniter) I viewed it. I received it within 2 days. Someone I knew viewed the video and had it installed within 30-45 minutes.. my oven works like a charm again! So I did not have to spend $700 for a new oven! Read More... Alex V Houston , TX August 17, 2016 Appliance: Model TAPPAN - MODEL NUMBER ERASED The igniter did not glow as bright as it should and the gas would not ignite reliably Replacing the igniter fixed the problem. The bad igniter measured 220 ohms and the good one measured 180 ohms (cold). This was the second igniter replacement in 27 years. This confirms that igniters do get "weak" with age and are are prime cause of gas oven failure. Fortunately, it's a pretty easy fix. Read More...
