Robin P Mexico , NY June 10, 2019 Replaced corroded/rusted burner box panel (under electric burners) and replace chipped/nasty stove top Needed to replace burner box panel (pan under electric coil burners) and replace stove top (black panel that surrounds the burners). BB was corroded, had a couple big holes from liquid boil-overs (salted water) from the last 10 years. The stove top looked nasty. It was chipped & scratched badly. Removed electric coil burners and drip pans from stove top. Removed 1 small Phillips screw in each burner opening to detach electrical burner sockets from stove top. Lift stove top and support on prop rods OR just open it fully, lean against control panel (full vertical position). Remove Phillips head screws around perimeter of burner box panel. Some may not budge until heated with a torch. Burner box panel then slides right out. Replace panel and secure with screws. I put some aluminum foil (4 layers) on top of burner box panel to help prevent boil over liquids from rusting new panel. Burner box panel replacement complete! To replace stove top: On the back of stove, remove the upper most louvered panel. On each side, there is a hinge for the stove top. Remove 2 screws (2 per hinge) that secures hinge plate to frame. Remove stove top with 2 hinges attached from stove. Transfer 2 hinges and stove top prop rods (one each side) to new stove top. May have to heat screws that fasten prop rods to top. Attach new stove top to stove via hinge plate, one each side with 2 screws. DO NOT tighten. Now adjust new stove top for alignment, then tighten 2 screws per hinge. Attach 4 burner sockets (one per opening) to new stove top. Close new stove top. Insert 4 drip pans and finally the 4 electric coil burners. ALL DONE!
