Mrs. H Rochester , NH March 13, 2014 Appliance: Model AP3960215 (316456224) My son, accidentally broke our glass stove top! We are renters and were horrified to learn that our son accidentally dropped something on the glass stove top and it broke! Not knowing what to do - but obviously being responsible, we contacted several local appliance stores to inquire about a replacement top. We were told you 'can't replace that', 'the cost will be more than it's worth' and 'it would take 3 to 4 weeks to find one and order one'. Well, I found AppliancePartsPros.com and put in the model number of our stove. Within seconds - we found what we needed - a Replacement Glass Stove Top!! We ordered it and received it within only a FEW days! It arrived in a very well packed box. The installation was EXTREMELY easy (diagrams on the website!) and now our stove looks BRAND NEW again! Not only was the cost reasonable - it saved us from having to upset our landlord or replacing a perfectly good stove. This was the easiest order, purchase and install for replacement parts EVER. I am very impressed! (I only hope to never have to replace one again, but if I do, I know exactly where to go to get my parts!) Thank you AppliancePartsPros.com - Thank you!!! Jesse L Englewood , CO December 06, 2014 Appliance: Frigidaire Electric Range FEF336ECB Cracked glass stove top - Unplug oven - Unscrew the 3 front screws (#2 Phillips) - Pull the top assembly out (towards you) over the metal lip - Lift up (be careful not to lift too high as to strain the wire harness assembly) - Without detaching any wires, unscrew 4 bracket screws (#1 square drive) that holds burners in place and allow them to rest on top of the oven insulation (much easier if a second person holds glass top assembly up for you) - Remove glass assembly top - Remove small slot brackets on back of top (4 #1 square drive screws) - Attach slot brackets to new top - Reattach burner brackets to new top - Place slot brackets into slots on back of stove - Ensure top is fully in place to include ensuring it is over the metal lip in front - Replace 3 front screws - Plug oven in and test to ensure burner function Read More... 15 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Gary G Strongsville , OH August 23, 2015 Cracked cook top Make sure to unplug the stove first! Burners touching each other can cause short circuit. Unscrew 3 Phillips head screws at front of top, then top swings up easily. Unscrew the 2 burner assemblies from underneath the top using a #1 Square head screwdriver. Here's where it got tricky: There were 4 more square head screws attaching the back end of the top to brackets. I don't think other reviewers mentioned this. Even with the top swung all the way back, my square head screwdriver was too long. So, if you're buying a square head screwdriver just for this job, make sure to get a short one! At this point, set the new top in place and reattach the burner assemblies. Make sure no wires came loose from the burners and reattach the top. Unfortunately, the holes in the back of the new top did not seem to line up with the holes on the brackets so I ended up not reattaching at the back. This was OK, though, since the top stays in place just fine using the three Phillips screws at the front. It's just that it was a little tougher to line the top up with the three screw holes when putting it back on. Plug the stove back in and check that all 4 burners work, and you're done. Overall, pretty simple to do yourself, except for the issue with the brackets at the back. It's helpful but not necessary to have another person available to hold the top while you detach and reattach the burners.
