Joe G North Kingstown , RI March 10, 2015 Appliance: Frigidaire Electric Range FEFL79DBB Cracked stove top glass This was not a real hard fix, but a second set of hands would make it go faster. I found the easiest way to remove the old top was to remove the hinges completely and put them on the new top then reattach the new top. Step 1: Remove two screws inside the oven door. There are three others you will remove later. Step 2: Remove the back cover (top only) and then the two screws on each hinge holding the top on. Step 3: Remove the screws holding the brackets which keep the burners in place against the glass. Step 4: Remove the old top completely and remove the hinges from the top and put them on the new top.Now remove the thin mettle strip from the front edge (three screws) and reattach it to the new top. Step 5: This is where you may need a bit of help. Attach the brackets and burners to the new top. I laid the top off center hanging over the side of the range and screwed up since I had no other method of holding them in place. Step 6: Replace the new top and reattach the hinges (leave the screws loose for now) and then align the front edge and put the two screws back in by the oven door. Now go back and tighten the hinge screws and replace the back. You are done!
