Description
This is a Frigidaire cooktop, or main top, for electric ranges. It houses the burners, and provides a smooth glass surface for cooking. If this part is damaged, it's usually obvious. A cooktop like this one can crack or even shatter if something heavy is dropped on it, or if it is exposed to a sudden, sharp temperature change.Before installing this part, make sure that power to the stove is cut, and do not begin repairs unless the entire range is completely cool. A screwdriver, nut driver, and small dowel rod may be needed to install this part. The old cooktop should be held in place with a number of mounting brackets, the first of which may need to be accessed from inside the oven. Take care when removing the old cooktop if there are loose shards of glass or ceramic, and vaccuum any debris out of the burners before installing the new part.
