James G Fort Lauderdale , FL September 12, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Gas Range WFG374LVB2 I needed to change out the stovetop gas orifices going natural gas to propane Changing out the stovetop orifices from natural gas to propane- First thing, turn off the gas. On this model stove, there are five burners-two burners in the front, two in the back and one in the middle. The front two burners are different than the other three, they are the largest burners. You can use a 11/32 socket with an extension to go down the middle hole of the burner and screw-out the natural gas orifices. Taking the orifices out was easy. Putting the new orifices in is a different story. I noticed the length of the orifices are shorter than the depth of the socket. I didn’t notice this until I lost one inside the burner. It took a piece of chewing gum on the end of a pencil to retrieve it. So to solve this socket-depth issue, I found a piece of fabric-softener blanket in the trash, ripped off a piece and stuffed it in socket. Now the orifice bumps up against this blanket with over half of the threads showing. Now it’s easy peazy to install these orifices. The other three orifices are different. The hole in the middle of burners are smaller, you can’t use the socket wrench in the same way. You need to remove the burner first. You do this by unscrewing two phillips-head screws on either side of the middle hole of the burner. After the burners are off, the remaining orifices are easily accessible and easy to replace. I also bought the gas grill cleaner and some cleaning pads. It’ the easiest stuff to use. You just wet the grills, squeeze the cleaner on and wipe it off. I found a piece of plywood, took it outside, placed the grills on it and hosed them down. While the grills are dripping wet, squeeze the cleaner on and wipe. The grills look brand new.
