Geraldine K East Longmeadow , MA May 31, 2014 Appliance: Frigidaire Washer ATF8000FS1 The door fell off my affinity washer just came off when i opened the door one day! First problem was figuring out the correct part to order. I went to the Frigidare website for help there. The door was sandwiched in several layers. The part that broke was of course the plastic one. The door was poorly designed having a piece of plastic support heavy glass and metal! My brother, an engineer actually did the repair as it required three people to install the reassembled door. It is easy to reassemble, but key was the four white plastic "sleeves" that were recycled back into the assembly process from the old door. Without them and the clue they gave to reassembly, it would have been a disaster. There are thin slots on these plastic pieces and they slide into a connecting piece on the next layer when you reassemble the parts. Definitely don't throw anything away until the door is reassembled. It took three of us to hold the reassembled door in place and gently align the slot on the white plastic piece and secure the screws. The inner glass window is HEAVY, making it definitely a three person job...one person had to be sure the layers did not separate off the white plastic piece at the hinge connection on the machine, one had to secure the heavy glass as it could slip (unless you taped it in place), and one person to secure the screws. This self repair saved me a lot of money. It is a little complicated but with patience it can be done. I do recommend looking at the schematic on the manufacturers website to see how the layers are put back together before beginning. Gabor N Palisades , NY December 16, 2015 Door was hanging due to broken hinge and plastic door panel Removed the door, took it apart, found that the hinge and "chrome" plastic door panel had broken parts. The new parts arrived very quickly (thank you!) and it took about 15 minutes to put door back together and start a load of laundry! Anne M Tulsa , OK March 02, 2018 Appliance: Model FRIGIDAIRE AFFINITY FRONT LOAD WASHER Door problems: broken latch and hinge Originally purchased new hinge and latch. But once I had the door apart I noticed that all the plastic had broken inside the door so there was nothing to hold the screws. I then ordered the inner and outer door frames. Taking the door apart was not a problem. And the only problem I had putting the door back together was the fact that I lost 2 of the screws. Thanks to online support, I went to my local Ace Hardware and replaced the screws. Door back together with minimum effort and properly mounted and attached to the washer. Works like a dream now and I figured I saved a bundle doing it myself with instruction from Appliance Parts Pros videos!
