John B Robert , LA July 12, 2016 Appliance: Model FRIGIDAIRE LRA187MT2 Front controls unresponsive set itself to 90 and fan then completely cut out Replaced the main board, front control board, and the thermostat for good measure. VERY IMPORTANT: Take plenty of photos. I used my phone and snapped nearly two dozen pictures of the main PC board before and during the disconnecting of wires. Without doing this, I would have had a very large problem on my hands. Read More... 6 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers

Richard H Tucson , AZ May 30, 2016 Appliance: Frigidaire Room Air Conditioner LRA157MT11 Compressor would not stop running My research brought me here and after I read the other reviews for this problem with this unit, I decided to roll the dice and ordered the PC control board. Make sure you get the right one. There's another one for the display panel/remote control. Not that one. I had already had the unit apart once, thinking it might help to give it a good cleaning before asking it to get us through another Arizona summer. This allowed me to take out a couple more screws and do a quick visual inspection of the original PC unit that was now 3 years old. Of course, this revealed nothing, but it did give me the confidence to go forward with replacement. Ordered the part, it came in two days later. Two hours later I had the system up and running like new. Hope it lasts. Heavy unit to deal with, but this job not too bad. Robert H Hampton , VA September 02, 2016 Frigidaire 25000 btu window a/c the compressor wouldn't shut down when unit turned off After reading reviews from others with the same problem, I opted to replace the control board. It took a little more than 2 hours to replace the board, mostly due to the extremely small space the control board was housed in (about 7 x 5 inches) and the fact the replacement board was not an exact replacement. For the most part, 80% of the wire connections were in the same locations, some were slightly moved. I'm not an electrician, so I just checked the markings beside the connections and made sure I moved the wire to the new connection with the same marking. I changed each wire one at a time. Put everything back together and it's been working for a week now. A extremely small ratcheting phillips screwdriver would help a lot. The hardest part of the whole job was trying to access the screws holding the board in and then putting them back in with the new board.
