Gregory H Stroudsburg , PA February 13, 2021 Appliance: Frigidaire Refrigerator FRT18S6AWY Fridge compartment too warm. My tenant reported that her fridge compartment was not cold enough. I listened for the evaporator fan and heard nothing. So, I ordered and replaced the evaporator fan, a repair that I've done before. This time was a bit more challenging in that the replacement part was not a direct replacement and I had to cut off the connectors and splice the wires. A little scary, but it worked just fine. I spent a bit over an hour fixing the problem because I was being very careful. If I had to do the same repair again, it would go much faster. I put the cover buttons on a second fridge which also needs the lower door gasket to be replaced. Based on the instructions on the web site, I took the gasket out of its packaging and left it on the floor so that it could relax. I don't expect any problems with completing that repair in the very near future. So, once again, another successful repair which saved me a $109 service call plus whatever they would have charged me for labor. I suspect I saved close to $300 on the evaporator fan job. I don't know what I would have been charged for the other two repairs. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers
