John V East Quogue , NY January 13, 2017 Appliance: Frigidaire Gas, Range FGF379WJCB Igniter housing attachment corroded away The constant cooking and age of the appliance I repaired corroded the housing attachment that holds the igniter in place to the burner. Also the screws that hold the burner in place to the stove cover were also corroded which caused the burner itself to not stay in place but fall into the stove. By using a screw driver, lift up on the sides of the stove cover to pop the clips that hold it in place. Use a block of wood to hold up the stove cover. On the model I worked on, the igniter removes from the igniter wire via a wiring clip. Pull the old igniter off gently as to not break the wiring clip. Unscrew the old housing igniter mount from the burner underside(if your clip is broken off). Now mount the new assembly to the burner. Re-install the wiring clip to the new igniter. If your burner has fallen through as I stated above, this can be tricky. If you are good, you can remove the corroded screws and replace with new. If you can't get them out and do not want to spend the extra money for a new burner($100.00), you can pre-drill new holes and use new screws. I don't recommend the above if you are not aware of what you are doing. Spend the money for new. The work was simple and straightforward except that two of the screws that hold the burners to the top place snapped off at the head. These were not essential for functioning provide two of the three were in place.
