(This took me 2.5 hours to complete). IHere is Parts Diagram Pic (Item #16): Here is Pic from of my Range (Cracked between blue tape spots): Pic of Stovetop (before replacement) Pic of Stovetop (after replacement) Steps I took: 1) Have a clear table top covered with towels or cardboard and big enough to set down the old and new glass top (the new top comes with bezel attached). Have a couple of small bowls to put the removed screws) 2) Either unplug stove or shut off power at breaker. 3) Pull stove out from wall/counter area (you will need full access to front and back of stove) 4) Have a set of smallish torx drivers, several small/medium size flat screwdrivers, some small wood blocks (I cut up a half dozen wood shims into pieces about 2” long. 5) Open oven door and remove 5 black sheet metal torx screws immediately under control panel (you really only need to take out the center and left- right-most now but all 5 must be removed to fully separate the control panel from the glass top unit. (there are no more screws in the front) 6) Remove the full vertical panel covering the back of the stove. 7) Remove the screws near the top holding the back of the glass stovetop panel. 8) Carefully separate the small low voltage jack and the larger high voltage jacks at the left rear of the stove. (The larger one was a bit tricky and I used a small flat screwdriver to release the “clip” point”. 9) Once connecting wires separated and all screws removed, the full glass top assembly should lift straight up off the stove. (Likely easier for 2 people but I did it solo). 10) Carefully turn old top over and set down on table top (glass down, induction guts up). 11) Carefully set new top glass down next to / near old top. 12) Notice the 6 “clips” on the new top that are / will be used when you transfer the induction guts from the old to new top. 13) Finish separating the front control panel from the old top. Remove the two low voltage wire connection first (they separate quite easily). 14) The bottom of the control panel (the top when upside down as you now have it), pulls out from the rectangular attachment frame and then “push down” to finish separating from the attachment panel. 15) Remove the two sheet metal screws from the attachment panel and remove this panel. 16) Remove the 3 sheet metal screws hold the fan vent cover (item #20 in the first diagram), and remove the panel. 17) Remove the sheet metal screws hold the rear oven vent trim piece at the rear of the old glass top assembly. (Item #11 on parts diagram) 18) Now you must separate the induction “guts” assembly from the old glass top by releasing the 6 “clip points”. Your technique may vary but I used a flat head screwdriver to push in the clip snap point and wedged a couple wood spaces between the glass top and assembly to prevent re-snapping together. Be patient and careful and get all 6 “free” before liftoff. 19) Now carefully lift off and observe the locations of the 4 grey induction mechanism (one for each of the 4 burners). 20) Now it’s all apart and you should be ready for re-assembly. (get the old top out of the way, you are done with it) 21) I started by turning the full rectangular induction mechanism face up (open side up just the way it will sit under the glass top when on range) on the table. 22) Note: make sure you have “aligned” the 4 separate induction burner components before setting the glass top down for re-attachment. They tend to be somewhat spring loaded in order to “press” against the underside of the glass top when fully snapped together. 23) Very carefully orient the new glass top over the induction assembly taking special care to line up all 6 clip points. ALSO, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE BACK OF THE INDUCTION ASSEMBLY TOWARD THE BACK OF THE GLASS TOP. (The jack for the high voltage wires goes to the back.). Double check so you will not have to take apart again. 24) When you are sure each of the snap locations are properly aligned, snap the assemblies together by “squeezing” with you hands from one side to the other. The snap is pronounced when it fits together. 25) Put the front control panel, the fan cover, and the rear vent façade on before placing the new top on the range for re-attachment. Make sure to reconnect the two front wire jacks to the control panel. 26) If you have help available, it will be much easier to set the new top down on the range. There are 4 guide pins to be sure it aligns correctly. 27) Now finish off the rest of the reassembly. 28) Good luck! Read More...
