Paul M Antrim , NH December 23, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Washer WHDRR418G2WW Washer tub assembly sagged with severe usage of our large family motor rubbing against frame and stalling Installed GE # WH49X20925 Rod Support Sub-Frame, a factory specified upgrade. As a Design Engineer I would categorize this "fix" as an "Engineering Correction" a.k.a. a classic designer "screw-up". The Appliance Chassis was collapsing and required significant straightening before we could even begin the new perimeter frame install. Shame on GE! Otherwise a fine Family Unit being well abused. Deiter, M Lavallette , NJ June 18, 2016 Metal grinding on metal during agitation cycle Washer was making loud grinding sound during agitation (no noise during spin cycle). Took front panel off and discovered motor housing was rubbing on base of machine. Initially I thought it might be the bearing but since there was no noise on spin cycle, I ruled that out. I replaced the 3 piece apron with the apron conversion kit and the problem was solved. Video of the procedure was very helpful. I subsequently replaced the tub dampening straps as the washer was still a bit loud (not a metal sound but more plastic sounding) during agitate cycle. Sadly it still is making that noise but I think that may be more a factor of how this machine works. I cannot find any indication of banging so I think it is just how the tub is "thrown" back and forth. Very happy I made this repair for a fraction of what it would have cost to have a repairman come or to replace the machine. Read More... Gil A Bloomsburg , PA April 08, 2016 Appliance: Model GE 2050 TYPE Motor and belt hitting on the appliance bottom The part is the 3rd one I have used to repair GE washers that have this problem. The old bracket is 3 pieces and allows the cabinet collapses on itself allowing the motor and belt to drag/rub on the metal bottom of the washer. Most of the washer needs to come apart to replace this part. It takes less and less time for every one of these I repair. Read More...
