Bud C Rhinelander , WI April 29, 2019 Appliance: General Electric Microwave PVM1970SR1SS Handle broke off microwave Contacted local furniture and appliance mart. customer service rep checked with the technician who reportedly said I would have to replace the door on my microwave, which cost over $500. Got disconnected twice. Was told they would call me back if it happened again. It did; but, I got no return call after 2 hours. Called back, talked to a different person who said they would get back with me after finding out the cost of the handle-replacement part. Two days later, received a voicemail message indicating that the part was no longer available. Having had this level of difficulty, I, in the meantime, had contacted Appliancepartspros.com, ordered the part online the cost of which was under $200, and received it at my home within 2 days. While awaiting the part, I watched 4-5 repair videos on YouTube, although none of them pertained to my specific make and model of microwave. Despite this, I was able to mentally assemble applicable bits and pieces from each video, to find a path to make the repair, even though it was pretty clear, that the job was made unnecessarily difficult by design, for those who do not have the necessary technical knowledge, which I had gleaned from the videos. I made the repair in less than 30 minutes and the part was a perfect fit. The notion of having to replace the entire door was dead wrong. I would definitely use this parts source again and at this point, recommend them to others, based upon my single experience. Read More...
