Carl C London , OH August 18, 2023 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GSH22JSDDSS GE refrigerator front and rear wheels. The rubber shell on the wheels had cracked and peeled off. The front wheel assembly replacement (WRXO2X12454) was straightforward and easy to do. Took maybe 30 minutes start to finish. The rear wheel assembly (wheel WRO2X10695 and axle WRO1X10604) that was more involved as the original wheel axle is actually a rivet that you have to cut out. 1. I used a vibrating multitool with a carbide blade to cut the axle out. Had to use a pair of vise grips to hold the rivet to keep it from spinning while cutting it. 2. The new axle I drilled a 2mm hole thru the small end. 3. Put the wheel and drilled axle in the refrigerator and used a 1.6mm hairpin - cotter pin to hold the wheel in place. Including the time to cut the old wheel axle out and drill the new axle and everything probably had close to 2 hours in the whole thing. As far as trying to the use replacement axle and smash or deform the rivet small end like it was on the original wheel assembly would be very hard to do in that small area where the wheel is located and it would be easy to damage one of the refrigerant lines.
