Steven S Somerset , KY April 21, 2015 Appliance: Model SEARS KENMORE 911.95589991 Bake unit cracked and started glowing and sparking like the sun both elements replaced Easy fix. Both elements replaced while I was at it, so all new. Figured if one went the other was going to follow. CIRCUIT BREAKER OFF. Removed the back metal panel with my nut driver for the hex head screws. Note where the panel may slip under tabs for support. Remove slip on electrical connections on upper and lower elements. May need a pliers. (I did not want to just pull the element and the wires into the oven with the element and remove them there, like a technician would do. After 15 years, I wanted to re-tighten all the back connections while I was at it.) BAKE UNIT: Remove 2 hex head screws from bake element where it penetrates the back wall. Tipped front end up so up-curved electrical attachments ends of the elements pull out of insulation and back hole. Reverse for installation. BROIL ELEMENT: Remove 2 hex head screws from back attachment where it penetrates the back wall. Remove single screw holding temperature sensor at same location. Note temperature sensor wire path. Support the back of the element while removing two hex head screws from broil support bracket which are attached to the top of oven. Pull element forward. Reverse for installation. FOR BOTH: Reattach slip on wiring. May need a pliers. Make sure the insulation is tucked back around the element tips and wiring to prevent heat escaping. BACK PANEL: Checked all electrical screw connections for tightness and re-installed panel with screws. Had my wife watch oven while I re-energized the circuit at breaker box, with instructions to scream upon seeing any fireworks. No fireworks. Turn oven on. Oven coils both glow red hot like I haven't seen since new! Initial new burn smell quickly dissipated. Chocolate Chip Cookies were first test and successful! Second test with chocolate chip cookies successful, too. Third test.................
