Separating the inner and outer surfaces of the door requires some care. The two surfaces are held together by a number of Phillips head screws. Once the two surfaces are loose, there is a ribbon cable, and a multi-pin IDC connector that connect the control panel on the front door, to the control module mounted on the inner door. You have to carefully disconnect the cables from the control module so as not to damage them while replacing the tank. Replacement of the tank is very simple. It takes longer to take everything apart than it does to replace the tank. Unfortunately, once the tank was replaced, I realized that the hose on the output side of the detergent pump was torn and leaking. You can't purchase the hose, you have to purchase the entire pump assembly. Fortunately the pump, like the detergent tank, was in stock and iwas scheduled to be delivered in two days from the time I ordered it. In retrospect, I should have ordered the tank and the pump at the same time but all that mistake cost me was a little bit of time.
