Allen C Prosper , TX December 11, 2019 Appliance: General Electric General Electric ZVC36L3SS Monogram GE range hood Light blew out. Changed light bulbs and could not change settings and the fan would only hum. Ordered a new motherboard and replaced it. Lights worked correctly but the fan still would not work, it only hums. I called your service department and was told to replace the fan. I did additional research and found out that the capacitor was a start capacitor and that it is needed to start and run the fan motor. So I returned the fan motor once received and ordered the start capacitor. Received it and replaced the existing capacitor and the fan now works. Bottom line: An electrical surge took out the motherboard and the capacitor.
