George V Decatur , GA March 06, 2015 Appliance: General Electric General Electric GXRM10RBL00 Constant water draining out of system and gurgling sound coming from faucet After doing some recon online, looked like the check valve was the likely culprit. Sure enough, when I pulled the old one out (it attaches to the larger white tube coming out of RO membrane chamber) I could blow air through it both ways, indicating it was shot. I used a little plumbers tape when I installed the new check valve into the membrane chamber. The control flow (flow restrictor in black tube attached to RO membrane chamber) had been filled with gunk at time of last filter change so I wanted to change that out as well. And as the system came with our house built in 2006, I went ahead and replaced the auto shut off valve as it was likely just a matter of time before its rubber parts got hard and stopped working efficiently. The entire project took me about 10 minutes with an adjustable wrench to loosen the plastic nuts, and did not require the removal of the filters or RO membrane. Be sure to turn off the water to your system and drain it out, and mark the hoses going into the auto shut-off valve so you can reconnect everything properly.
