Remove the top access cover. Disconnect the 2 connectors that lead to the control panel (they are wide, white and at right angles to each other. This harness will come off with the control panel. Using a long phillips with magnet remove the 4 screws that mount the top panel brackets to the chassis. Note that the replacement control panel does not include the brackets. The control panel should pivot towards you from the bottom. Push up to free the panel from the guide pins that are invisible, but are located in both top corners. Carefully feed the harness forward through the hole, and remove the control panel. Remove knob by pulling it straight forward. Can be a bit tight. Remove the electronics from the SS panel (2 phillip on one side, 1 on the other. Also remove the 3 phillips that hold the knob shaft. This is needed because to remove the electronics you need to push the thing up to clear a hook (visible in the new control panel). The shaft prevents you from moving it enough -- that is the reason for removing the 3 phillips on the back of the shaft. The control panel connects into the electronics with a connector that you pull out to allow the flexi cable to be push into the connector, and then you push back the movable part of the connector.
