Scott C El Paso , TX May 20, 2017 Appliance: Hoover 5300 Start button would not begin cycle and would show cln on display Remove top of washer (three screws from back) and three screws from the top plastic trim. One screw is inside detergent tray space behind the tray. The tray can be removed by pulling all the way out and then depressing a small lever in the top left. Once the top trim and washer top metal plate are removed, an additional screw is accessible from inside, near the wire channel, and the plastic clips can be pressed to remove the front trim/control panel as a single unit. Unclip all electrical connectors and remove the front dial by pulling straight away form the trim/dial housing. Four screws will remove the control board from the front trim, and the new board can be returned in the same manner with the same 4 mounting screws into the plastic risers on the front trim. Be sure to transfer (carefully) the button from the old control board to the new one. All other pieces can be returned in reverse of disassembly. **One problem with programming**. The washer door was initially not fully closed, and no lights showed on the display after replacing the board, although beeping was heard with movement of the dial or pressing of buttons. Once the door was closed fully, the display showed the expected "---" and model number selection could proceed as described on the included programming sheet. Overall 45-60 minutes should be set aside to get everything connected correctly.
