Reid D Santa Maria , CA April 01, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator C Series GTH18ECC2RWW The evaporator coil kept getting heavily frosted and the compressor ran almost continuously The defrost heater element looked good and had continuity. The defrost thermostats checked good, so that just left the Defrost Module as the likely suspect. I installed a new defrost control module and thermostats. The thermostats were inexpensive and the old ones could have been intermittent, The only "tricky" part was finding out how to get to the back screw that holds the main control panel. Discovered that the return air duct surrounding the control panel needed to come off. It helps to have a long, narrow screwdriver to unlatch the duct, when the front edge of the control panel is down. Antoine N North Hollywood , CA April 13, 2016 Appliance: Model WR55X21623 Due to strong winds that damaged the power line and caused power outage an surge the fresh food section of the frige stopped cooling but the freezer still ok the comprssor was running 24/24 hours After calling the appliance repair service, the technician said that the Control Defrost Module needs to be replaced, and it'll take 4-5 days to complete the repair. I didn't want to wait that long, so I ordered the part (this is my second time ordering from APP, last time was a washer part). In the mean time I removed the back panel of the freezer to discover a very thick ice build up. I let it defrost overnight, and by the time the part arrived the next day, in less that 24 hours, I removed the old "fried" Control Defrost Module and installed the new one, and now the fridge is running as new again. Many thanks to Appliance Parts Pros for their great service and reasonable prices. Donald S Fort Smith , AR October 17, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GTH18CBTZRBB Freezer was icing up and the refrigerator was getting warm. First thought was to check and change the defrost thermostat which has two. Then I read about other people having the same problem and decided to change the control module. After receiving the parts it was simple to change all of the parts. Changing the control module i found that one of the parts on the old board a capacitor had blown apart. After changing the parts the unit is running great. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
