Instead of costly repair, I went online Removed the control panel, read that moisture shorts out the panel so I ordered a new one. Voila! My son reconnected it and we are back in business. Virginia F Newburyport , MA November 08, 2014 Appliance: General Electric Microwave JVM1540DM5BB Start button did not work; express buttons clock etc all still worked but the contact on the start button must have worn our after only a year!!! Ordered a new control panel and proceeded to install it according to online video instructions. Pretty easy, just remember to be clear on where the wires you detach actually go!
