Donald L Rochester , MI April 18, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Dishwasher GDWT160R00SS Detergent and rinse aid dispenser stopped working Bought the replacement dispenser from APPros.com (of course). The video shows a front control panel, and our dishwasher has the 'hidden' control panel on the top of the door. So here's the difference: 1) You need to take out all the screws, except the two near the latch at the top. The other video shows only taking out the bottom six screws because the remainder of the screws hold the front control panel. I used a couple paint cans with rags on top to hold the corners of the door when open. 2) The remaining two screws by the latch hold little catch blocks that support the front panel. You can simply lift the front panel off of these catch blocks, the screws do not need to be removed. 3) CAREFUL now, the door cover panel (with the control panel on top) is still connected to the door by a ribbon cable to the computer board that is mounted to the door. Lift the door up (but do NOT let it latch closed). You may need a helper here to hold the door and panel. 4) I tried to remove the ribbon cable, but it was set rather firmly even after prying up the latch. So I left it as is. 5) So... with my helper keeping stress off the ribbon cable, I then removed the six screw from the old soap dispenser, cleaned up the inside surface with a little razor scraper (taking care not to score the softer stainless steel), and popped in the new part (that process is as shown in the video). 6) Connected the two wires back onto the dispenser, hung the door panel back on the support blocks, gently laid the whole door back fully open while holding the panels together on the sides, put all the remaining screws in (partially at first until all screws were started, then tightened all down). 7) Ta da! Done! Thanked my helper, who is also my wife. Tested the washer. Everyone is happy! Kim H Little Rock , AR July 28, 2015 Soap dispenser was broken on dishwasher We watched the video and in about 15 minutes we had the broken soap dispenser out and replaced it with the new dispenser. The only issue we had was with the wires. They were a little difficult to get out, but after a few tries with a screwdriver, we got it! Robert P Ringwood , NJ January 13, 2017 Appliance: General Electric Dishwasher PDW7880J15SS Ge profile dishwasher non functioning detergent dispenser should have known better The middle spray arm was clogged after 7 years of NJ well water sediment passing through it. As such it didn't hose the Cascade completely out of the dispenser then the dry cycle turns what is left into hard paste and gums up the release hinge. When I knew what was wrong replacing the spray arm and dispenser would fix it. It could have worked had it not have been for my haste: If you are going to replace the dispenser on a GE Profile Triton XL or similar dishwasher you must first separate the access door from the interior panel to gain access to the dispenser. When done the now clam shelled doors do not separate comfortably to make the switch easy, there is a ribbon cable connecting the 2. DO NOT pull on the ribbon cable to make access easier to disconnect it from the control panel. DO use Needle nose pliers or better 2 pair to pull the assembly out without damage. Then you will not tear the ribbons off their connectors like I did. - $75 used replacement panel on Ebay. New OEM $250. new Dishwasher: TBD Haste makes waste.
