Richard R Eastampton , NJ January 17, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator TFX24RLL Rusting of the dispensoer plate and auger Replacement of plate and auger was straightforward. Replacement parts fit exactly. Took about 1 hr to do the repair, actually about 1.5 hrs when you consider we thoroughly washed all the parts, new and old. Words of wisdom: 1)Take lots of pictures. The ice chopping blades and washers are many separate pieces and need to go back in the same order and orientation. The plate has many holes for screws for the cover and the orientation is important.Note which holes are used. 2) The bar that comes with the auger is marked "UP" due to the slight bend in the bar. This assumes you are assembling the auger with the auger standing up. 3) Use pliers with a light grip to unscrew item 326, auger front nut. All the nylon washers/bushings used for the crusher blades were in good shape after 26 years and did NOT need to be replaced. If I had to do it again, I would have also ordered items 329, ice dispenser rod, which was also rusted but does not contact the ice. The rod must be totally removed to replace the auger and/or plate. Gerald F Springfield , MO August 31, 2015 Leaking ice tray caused auger to rust contaminating ice Main problem (leaking ice tray) has not been fixed; unable to identify main fault...making replacement/repair too expensive. The symptom (rusty ice) has taken over 20 years to develop...so replacing the auger will remedy the immediate issue for a relatively small amount of money. No worries. Read More...
