Susan L North Royalton , OH January 17, 2016 The door outer frame was cracked in the lower corners Had to remove the inside of the microwave door with a small putty knife, then the screws holding the handle on were exposed. Once I removed those first two screws, I had to remove the outer door frame to see the second set of handle screws, which also needed to be removed. Taking the cracked outer door frame off was a little harder...the post tabs wouldn't come out easily. Luckily the door was already cracked, so I just broke off the rest of the outer frame. Be careful when you do this, because the door outer frame holds the outer glass of the microwave, and it could slip out if you are not careful to hold onto it. Once the broken outer frame is completely removed, you can slip the glass into the new frame easily, then line up the tabs in the door and snap it in. Then reattach the door handle with the screws (mine had a crack in one of the screw supports which was easily fixed with Superglue Gel). The inside door panel snapped back in easily. Chi S Katy , TX January 02, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Free Standing Microwave JVM1640WB007 My old door outer frame was cracked in two places so i bought this to replace it Used a flat wall scraper blade to pry the door tabs apart, and a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door handle to the frame. Then I carefully removed the frame with the glass, cleaned the glass, put the handle on the new frame, inserted the glass in the new frame, and snapped this assembly back onto the door. Your video on changing out the door handle was helpful. Read More... 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
