Description

This door switch senses when the dryer door is closed so the cycle can start, and cuts power when the door opens. Replacing a faulty switch restores safe operation and consistent start/stop behavior tied to the door. What it does:

• Detects door open/closed position to enable or interrupt the motor and heater
• Stops drum rotation and heating when the door is opened
• On many models, also controls the interior drum light
• Common symptoms: dryer won't start, drum doesn't stop when door opens, interior light stays on/off incorrectly, intermittent starting

Install notes:

• Disconnect power before servicing
• Access the switch behind the door opening (remove the top or front panel as required by the model)
• Note wire positions; transfer connectors to the new switch and secure it in the bracket
• Reassemble and test that the dryer starts only with the door closed and stops when opened
