Description

The Filter Coarse is an OEM component specifically designed for GE dishwashers. It refers to the screen installed before the wash pump that traps soil and food particles. Subject to continuous wear from both water circulation and collected debris, the filter mesh can worsen over time.  

Causes of a bad coarse filter include:

• Clogged perforations blocking drainage and reducing water pressure  
• Loose mounting clips releasing trapped soils back into wash water instead of tube drain 
• Stretched or warped mesh no longer shutting tight to form a watertight seal

Symptoms of a failed coarse filter include:

• Soil tracked throughout the dishwasher unseen 
• Excessive residue left on dishes after washing and rinsing cycles
• Puddling inside the tub or continuing sound of draining after the cycle ends
