Description

The Thermal Fuse is an OEM part for GE dryers. This part prevents the dryer from overheating by cutting off the power if the dryer exceeds a certain temperature. 

Causes of a bad thermal fuse can include regular wear and tear, lint build-up, restricted airflow, or a malfunctioning thermostat. 

Symptoms of a bad thermal fuse include:

  • The dryer not starting
  • The dryer shutting off unexpectedly during a cycle
  • No heat production during drying
  • The dryer running but not heating

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

This part fixes the following symptoms

No heat

Very easy to replace the fuse. Unplug the unit. Take off the back and swap it out. Only two wires.

Dryer stopped heating

Used forums and schematics from Appliance Parts Pros to identify to the possible culprits, removed the back panel from the dryer, and tested the thermal fuse and thermostats for continuity. The thermal fuse was blown, and after ordering and installing a new one, the dryer is back up and running.
