Ge WR24X10155 Fresh Food Door Gasket OEM Part

Ordered replacement seals for both freezer and refrigerator sides. Followed directions that I had found on YouTube. The installation in a nut shell is warm the seals in a bathtub with very hot water for at least 2-3hrs then place the seals. Then warm the seals with a hair dryer as needed. After getting the seals out of the hot bath the installation took all of 20-25 minutes for both seals.

Checked both door gaskets and tried to heat them back into shape but it did not work so I ordered the gasket replacements. they arrived two days later one was right the freezer door came in the wrong color but I used it anyways. It had a small tear in it which I repaired using super glue. Laid both gaskets out in the garage as they were warped pretty good. After 48 hours I peeled off the old gasket and cleaned the ridges out real good and let dry. Tackled the freezer door first starting at the top and worked my way down to the bottom rotating sides closed door had to heat one small area to get it to close right. Next did the Refrigerator side same process. there were a couple more areas that did not seat well so pulled off and did it again. this time it all snapped back into place the way it was suppose to. Door sealed fine. Fired up the unit at recommended settings and allowed it to sit over night before filling. I was surprised when two hours had passed and the icemaker was already working. By morning tray was 3/4 full and temperatures were at the proper temperature. Filled up both sides. Project saved me 400.00 in repairs by doing it myself. Real pleased at how well it went

Ordered new door seal for both doors (OEM GE parts from AppliancePartsPros.com.). Laid out new seals on flat surface (face down) to relax over night. Before installation I used a hair drier on high to heat and relax the seal, used drier more on wrinkled areas. Removed old seals and cleaned grooved and flat area with window cleaner. Starting at top, apply tenon on back of seal in grove. Grasp thickness of door with fingers and push seal tenon into grove with thumb then run thumb or fingers along entire surface of seal to smooth. Reheat seal with hair drier and close door tightly.Check seal for next couple of days as it may take some time to completely flatten out. If seal could be shipped flat between two pcs. of cardboard and not in a box it would help greatly.
