Chris F Lexington , NC June 17, 2015 Telescoping vent for stove top quit working I knew nothing about these vents, but it seemed reasonable to try to replace the gear motor, so we ordered the part. The part came within a couple of days and was securely packaged. It did take some time to find the part, because the GE part number is not listed on the side of the motor that can be seen without removing the part, which I didn't want to do until I had the new motor. But, the pictures helped. It is only 4 screws to remove in order to remove the plate that the gear motor is attached to. I also had to loosen 2 screws that are attached to the arm. Otherwise, it is a simple matter of noting where all the wires go, and getting everything lined up. It was an easy install and the vent now works! I am glad I did this myself!
