Jud R Atlanta , GA December 16, 2014 Ice maker deispenser accumulating ice & fridge not staying cold while freezer was too cold This recess heater was a last resort 'nuclear' option that I never employed. First repair was to replace the solenoid that keeps the little door from staying open and letting room air back up it. Also replaced the gaskets around both doors which allowed the freezer and fridge sides to stay at the right temp. That seems to have done the trick. To install this part would be a herculean task involving complete and total disassembly of the door and seal 'tracks'...this seemed fraught with danger (they are well-sealed to the door and the door is filled with expanded foam) and so I didn't try to rip them off to get inside the door. Going in through the front part of the ice maker does not yield access to the desired part location. I should note that I also replaced the little light bulb in the dispenser area and the tiny bit of heat it generates, along with all the other repairs seems to keep the dispenser free of ice and the fridge/freezer sides at the set points. I consider myself super-handy and have not had a repair man in my house or under my car for anything at all in well over a dozen years...but putting this part in the dispenser was going to be bad news, likely to cause more problems than it solved.
