Peter S Glenview , IL April 23, 2024 Appliance: General Electric Gas Dryer GTX42GASJ2WW No heat in gas dryer Realizing that there could be multiple reasons for a gas dryer failing to heat, I decided to test everything I could. The very detailed and product specific video showed me how to disassemble the dryer. The thermostat, cycling thermostat, high limit, flame detector, igniter, gas valve coils and timer all showed correct continuity or resistance. I thought it might be the gas valve itself, but felt that wasn't likely so I decided to go ahead and replace the thermostats and limit switch since they were the most likely and least expensive. After replacing them the igniter heated, the gas valve opened and it lit. I put the dryer back together and it works like new. As a post script I went back and retested the replaced parts and they did test good for continuity; go figure.
